Session 6, Week 1
Lives of the Camp Superstars
The Bunnies had another awesome week here at Burgundy. We played new games in sports including torpedo and we did some super cool experiments in science. We even did a fun shaving cream activity where we mixed colors and shaving cream with our hands. We look forward to having more fun from the playground to the pool next week.
This week in the Ducks we have had so much fun! As the summer comes to a close, we started the week off by going to see the barn animals! All of the returning campers had a excellent time teaching the new campers the names of the animals and the rules of the barn. On Friday, all of the kids loved watching the talent show and were amazed by all of the various talents that were demonstrated by the staff and campers. The Ducks are super excited for all of the fun that we are going to have during our last week at camp - eek!
This is the Chipmunks news team. Reporting on the stars at Burgundy! This week those lovable Chipmunks dazzled an audience of dozens with their rendition of “This Land is Our Land” -- trust me, there was not a dry eye there! The Chipmunks relaxed this week at the pool, enjoyed some tasty ice cream, and of course played on the playground in front of a star-struck camp. Stay tuned next week for more exclusive Chipmunks news!
The Foxes had a great week this week. We found a green frog at one of the playgrounds in the woods, read lots of books as a class (we really enjoyed the one called The Fox and the Hen). We also really enjoyed the talent show where we were able to cheer on some of our fellow Foxes, counselors, and our neighbors the Chipmunks! We also had some great games of musical chairs and freeze dance and drew some fantastic rainbows and Moana drawings! Although we are sad to only have one week left, we made sure to take advantage of all the wonderful playgrounds and fun activities Burgundy has to offer.
This week in the Dinos we had a lot of company from our fellow groups! We got to have a Freeze Dance Party with the Ducks. We also played Capture the Flag with the Raccoons. Some of the Dinos expressed their talent at the Burgundy Talent show on Friday!
The Raccoons had a lovely first week of our last session of camp! We enjoyed exploring and playing on all the different playgrounds at camp, looking at cells and pulling DNA from strawberries in Science, playing Clean Up the Yard and relay races in Sports & Games, and drawing scenes from Burgundy in Arts & Crafts. Everyone loved getting ice cream on Wednesday and water slides on Thursday as well as performing in or watching their awesome friends perform in the Burgundy Idol Talent Show on Friday. We cannot wait to see everyone next week!

This week was a great week to be a Hawk! Only a few campers got the chance to showcase their talents in the Burgundy talent show, but all of our campers displayed great listening and respectful skills in and out of the classroom. #HAWKNATION
This week in Lego camp we built the tallest towers, the most float-able boats, and then the fastest cars. After that we had a challenging relay and then finished off the week with Lego Bingo.
This week Summer Stage has been hard at work creating an original musical for our performance next Friday. The girls have been busy memorizing songs and lines, all while preparing for the talent show. Summer Stage made a special appearance at Burgundy's Got Talent with a group number!
This week we have been learning so much about photography and capturing the moment! The campers learned about perspective, contrast, and composition. With these tools they created beautiful photos. With Photoshop they edited their photos to their liking. This week they created wonderful collages with their photos. They are also working on creating a movie with their pictures! We are excited for another week!
World Cup has expanded to introduce a soccer player from Ecuador who is representing Ecuador. Other brand new teams, China and Vatican City, are battling it out for the smallest World Cup of the summer.
This week we worked with Minecraft. We made bridges and talked about how real civil engineers designed their own bridges. We solved redstone puzzles and talked about how they work like real electrical circuits, what makes them different from normal circuits, and how we could use redstone to make programming commands like NOT and AND conditions. We also made roller coasters out of minecarts with real-world physics, and more!
This week was Earth Science week. We looked at rocks, talked about pollution, learned about types of weather, saw the relative scale of planets, and made our own volcanoes. Lab books with information about the solar eclipse will go home next week.
This week campers painted bisque pottery plates with glaze, and were encouraged to be creative with their designs. Younger students created “Monsters of Creativity” where they cut out pieces of paper and made monsters, with the idea of learning how to draw different types of lines and how to use space. We are excited to see all of the campers again next week!
Monday we played team-building games in the field and got to know the group. Tuesday we went on a long nature hike and identified leaves and made leaf rubbings that we turned into nature journals. Wednesday we made solar ovens and s’mores. Thursday we did the ropes course at Hemlock Overlook park. Friday we did a scavenger hunt and saw the Burgundy Idol talent show.
Our superstars had a great week of the last session of camp! Stay tuned for our grand finale next week!
